10 Amazing UFC Fights You Must Watch In February
3. Ion Cuțelaba Vs. Magomed Ankalaev - UFC Fight Night 169
Prior to his fight with Khalil Rountree at UFC Fight Night 160, many fight fans thought of Ion Cutelaba as just a rather angry fighter who would be easy pickings for Rountree's new Muay Thai specific skill set. However, the 26-year old showed a completely new wrinkle to his game against Rountree that shocked him and everyone else watching.
Instead of attempting his usual flurry of power strikes, Cutelaba showed a lot more patience, biding his time before landing the brutal blows that he's become known for. It's an important improvement for a young fighter to make in their career and he'll need to do the same against his next opponent, Magomed Ankalaev.
While Ankalaev looked pretty good in his last fight, finishing Dalcha Lungiambula with a wicked front kick and follow-up punches, it wasn't against the stiffest competition on the roster. Cutelaba is a decent step-up in competition for the Russian light-heavyweight and should provide plenty of firework for those watching.
