Wrestling fans out there will be able to tell you all about Brock Lesnar's tendency to return out of the blue. Yet in his UFC career, Lesnar only came back from a layoff on three occasions.

The first two were after battles with diverticulitis, with the latest being his epic return at UFC 200.

The latter probably ranks as the more anticipated, due to him being away for a longer period of time.

Lesnar had rejoined Vince McMahon's WWE in 2012 and it appeared that his legitimate days were far behind him, opting to brutalise an unsuspecting pro wrestling roster instead.

Then - just when fans were convinced they'd seen the last of him in the Octagon - Lesnar did what he does best: whatever the f*ck he wants.

He somehow struck up a deal between WWE and UFC which would allow him to take on Mark Hunt in July of 2016. One of the UFC's biggest ever draws would be making his first appearance in the company since late 2011.

MMA and wrestling fans were understandably split, with the former wanting their boy Hunt to finish the Beast Incarnate and the latter wanting Lesnar to embarrass the fully active UFC employee.

Either way, it got them excited.

Lesnar would go on to win by unanimous decision, before that result was overturned to a draw - due to a doping violation on his behalf.

He would retire shortly after, but at least we weren't deprived of the hype that came before the fall.
