Jon Jones is another fighter who seems to have spent more time promoting his return to competition than actually taking part in it.

Being involved in hit-and-runs and failing numerous drug tests, Jones attracts controversy for sport and his inactivity in recent years reflects that.

This entry will focus on Jones' first suspension following his part in the aforementioned hit-and-run incident. Jones had run a red light and crashed his rental car into two other vehicles, with one of the people involved in the collision being a pregnant woman.

This wasn't the best example for your Light Heavyweight Champion to be setting and UFC made the wise decision to strip 'Bones' of the belt.

Being inactive in the Octagon for well over a year, Dana White must have been apprehensive about how Jones would be received upon his comeback - after such a controversial incident.

That return took place at UFC 197 and fans were surprisingly forgiving towards the sentenced man, rousing him with euphoric cheers on his way to the Octagon.

He would be victorious in his bout vs. Ovince Saint Preux - winning the interim Light Heavyweight Championship - and looked set to reclaim his place atop the division's ladder, before testing positive for clomiphene and letrozole prior to his unification fight with old rival, Daniel Cormier.

A second yearlong absence was followed by yet ANOTHER year on the sidelines - again due to a failed drug test.

Jones currently reigns as the undisputed UFC Light Heavyweight Champion in 2019 and hasn't been suspended after any of his last three fights - small victories, eh?
