10 Doctor Who Deleted Scenes You Need To See

8. Maestro's Arrival

Jinkx Monsoon's wickedly entertaining turn as God of Music Maestro was the highlight of The Devil's Chord, so it's good to know that there's even more footage available on the cutting room floor.

In the finished cut we see Maestro giggle their way out of a piano on top of Abbey Road Studios before immediately giving chase to the Doctor and Ruby, but as filmed, there was an interstitial moment between these two scenes that allowed the tension to build that little bit more.

Here, Maestro ponders the identities of the Doctor and Ruby before using their cosmic tuning fork to track them down. With eye-catching camera angles and sweeping moves aplenty, it's an impressively cinematic sequence that manages to make Maestro feel larger-than-life in a short space of time.

According to Russell T Davies, this beat was simply cut for time. But in a season that felt like it was rushing its way to the finish line sometimes, adding in these little moments of breathing room would've improved the overall pacing – and in this case, given us a little bit more of one of the most entertaining Doctor Who villains of recent times.
