10 Doctor Who Stars You Didn’t Know Were In HUGE Movies

The wonderful Martha Jones wasn't half put through the wringer during her time on Doctor Who, having to walk a dystopian Earth that had fallen under the Master's dastardly rule.

But on the plus side, actress Freema Agyeman has fared much better outside the show.

Before Doctor Who, she did the rounds on the predictable TV dramas (The Bill, Casualty, Silent Witness, etc) and after Doctor Who, she's been on Law and Order: UK, The Carrie Diaries, and Netflix's Sense8.

It was this show that put her in touch with acclaimed directors The Wachowskis, who co-created and wrote the whole thing. So, when Lana Wachowski was directing the fourth instalment of the Matrix franchise, she knew exactly who to call when casting a small role.

Agyeman plays a character called Astra in the movie, one of Neo's fellow developers at the game studio where he works.

It's a brief part, but it's enough to notice that she hasn't aged a day in the 11 years since her final Doctor Who appearance. Are we sure she's not a Time Lord?

It might not be a major role, but with Doctor Who, Torchwood, and now The Matrix, Agyeman is collecting sci-fi franchises like Thanos collects Infinity Stones.
