1 Up & 5 Downs From AEW Rampage (Oct 7)

3. So, What Are They Fighting For?

Tay Melo Anna Jay
AEW

AEW promoted Tay Melo and Anna Jay as "Tay Jay A.S", which was clearly a play on their affiliation with the Jericho Appreciation Society. Cute, but ultimately pointless considering they've got nothing to fight for as a duo. Tony Khan's company doesn't have Women's Tag belts (at least not yet).

That's why it was kinda hard to care about their match.

The team of Skye Blue and Madison Rayne suffered from the same issue. They've been shoved together like many female pairings are on WWE's side, but the only difference is that those teams have championships they can gun for. Again, AEW doesn't offer that.

There wasn't much story to this midcard tag at all, and it was actually indicative of a broader problem with the booking. A lot of All Elite's current stuff just feels so one-off and like it's lacking direction. They're just pumping content out there for the sake of it and hoping talent will see them through.
