1 Up & 5 Downs From AEW Rampage (Oct 7)

1. It Still All Feels Phoned In

The long and short of it is that something is seriously, seriously wrong with Tony Khan's attitude towards Rampage. What should be a tidy accompaniment to Dynamite's storytelling, or a means to push other stories the flagship doesn't have time for forwards, has become WWE Main Event.

That's not a favourable comparison, obviously, but a fair one. There's a major shift in overall focus needed for this weekly soon, because it's sitting awkwardly in the range between inoffensive-but-skippable and downright horrible most weeks. There's no excuse for it.

None.

There was nothing about this week's program that'd make wrestling fans believe they couldn't miss the next episode. Christ, it didn't even do anything to hype up Dynamite's Canadian debut on Wednesday. If Rampage doesn't get pulses racing for anything AEW, then why does it exist?
