10 "Buried" Wrestlers Who Weren't Actually Buried

6. Dolph Ziggler (2013)

Dolph Ziggler is a longtime favourite of the burial brigade. His lack of a sustained main event push is something that will be discussed until the end of time, and there will always be a section of the fanbase who views his career as being one burial after another.

2013 is the go-to piece of evidence. To be more exact, fans often point to Dolph'z blink-and-you'll-miss-it World Heavyweight Championship reign, a reign that lasted just over two months. Total number of defences? Zero. It took months for WWE to finally pull the trigger and have Ziggler cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase, and then they almost immediately take it off him in a one-sided squash loss to Alberto Del Rio? Sounds like a burial.

Except Dolph Ziggler wasn't buried, he was injured. What else was the promotion going to do? It capitalised on his popularity by booking his title loss to be a double turn, giving Dolph a new lease of life after years as an arrogant heel. There are plenty of reasons why Dolph Ziggler didn't go on to win any more world titles, but none of them has anything to do with him losing the WHC in 2013.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man.
