10 80s Wrestlers Who Would Be Awesome In Today's WWE
4. Ricky Steamboat
Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat might just be the most out-of-left-field option when it comes to classic 80s wrestlers who would succeed in the WWE today, but it's not as odd of an option as you think.
For one, Steamboat was very theatrical. His entrances during his second WWE run in the early 90s (where he was billed simply as The Dragon) involved him spitting fire, which would make for an impressive entrance today. For another, wrestlers with a foreign/outside gimmick (The Dragon's original WWF gimmick relied heavily on him being of Japanese decent, partially anyway) abound today: the Usos, Los Matadores, not to mention the recent signing of Kenta.
With the ability to cut promos in English, Steamboat always had the best of both worlds, which would give him a leg up today.
Theatricality, in-ring ability, and a "gimmick" that isn't totally bizarre and can be easily updated to fit right in with the modern WWE - that makes Steamboat an obvious choice.
