10 Absolute Best Matches WWE Could Present In 2017

5. The Revival Vs. Sheamus & Cesaro

The Revival's Dash Wilder is out for two months with a broken jaw, but hopefully WWE waits as long before separating the Sheamus and Cesaro pairing. With all due respect to the Hardy Boyz, that match has the most potential of any (realistic) tag team affair WWE (including even NXT) could promote in 2017.

The scope for a great build and even greater release is vast. As the more senior team, with their peerless chemistry, Wilder and Scott Dawson would have to be positioned as the far more effective and cohesive unit. Cesaro's subsequent comebacks would both escalate the narrative and spike the excitement levels. Having him uppercut the sh*t out of Dash and Dawson from positions of peril would drop jaws everywhere. It's almost custom-made as a counter to the Shatter Machine.

The match would be the perfect platform on which to execute the much-teased Sheasaro split, too. Short of delivering some good (if forgettable) matches, the pairing has undermined the premise of the tag team art - and the friction is wearing thin.

Putting the Revival over Sheamus and Cesaro would almost guarantee a match to the level of NXT's 2015/16 vintage, while reinforcing the very essence of tag team wrestling - ending a low ebb of the uninspired strange bedfellows diminished return.
