10 Absolute Worst Gimmicks In WWE Right Now
6. Mustafa Ali
This is a sad entry.
One of the most wonderful, organic moments in recent WWE history was the rise of Kofi-mania. It was such a wonderful story, of the WWE Universe banding behind a mid-card stalwart, who had always been on the cusp of breaking through and grabbing one of those famous brass rings.
Kofi's rise to the WWE Championship was one of the most faith-affirming moments in recent memory but it came at a cost. Unfortunately, that cost was Mustafa Ali's career.
A wildly talented performer who has a great look, good promo skills, a genuine likeable backstory and killer entrance gear, Ali was the originally planned rival for Daniel Bryan heading into WrestleMania 35.
But what since then? Another wrestler tainted by the stench of RETRIBUTION, there has been zero comeuppance for the man who tried to bring down the WWE system. Once his goons turned on him, he just floated around in backstage segments and has recently been involved in a strange mentor role with Mansoor like he is some grizzled veteran. It just doesn't suit him.
Also, why would Mansoor want Ali's advice? The man's career has spiralled and his whole gimmick is saying cliched nonsense to the rookie about not trusting people. That's it.
Unless, of course, he was talking about WWE creative?
