10 Absolute Worst Gimmicks In WWE Right Now
5. The Viking Raiders
They're Vikings.
As War Machine on the independent scene and the less cool, War Raiders in NXT, Hanson and Rowe were one of the best tag teams in the business. Considering we are in a peak time for tag teams, WWE excluded obviously, that is pretty good going.
Both men are incredibly agile for their size, they seem to mesh with any style of opponent, and they put on some of the best tag team matches in NXT's recent memory.
But they're Vikings.
In the eyes of Vinnie Mac, that was enough. Not two big, burly dudes who enjoyed the Viking aesthetic. No, no, no. That's too subtle and so these two hard bastards ended up becoming ACTUAL Vikings. In 2021. It's laughable.
From debuting on the main roster with the worst name of all time, The Viking Experience, which made them seem like a crummy museum attraction, the two men were given more appropriate Viking names in Erik and Ivar.
They do Viking things and don't understand the current world and it's just rubbish. It's such a shame, too, as in a company that has ground tag team wrestling into the dirt, they could be pillars of the division. Instead, they are a lower card novelty act with as much credibility as their cosplay.
