The 2004 WWE Draft special saw a Smackdown main event close Raw as WWE Champion Eddie Guerrero defended against Triple H, who had been drafted to Smackdown earlier in the show (and would rejoin Raw two days later in a trade). Hunter's Raw Evolution buddies would interfere in a 'last' attempt to help their leader win gold before Smackdown's Cena and Mysterio would try and even the score, escalating into an enormous Red vs. Blue brawl. The brand extension was in full-swing during this time as both shows were presented as relatively equal. Therefore, this colourful brawl left a lasting impression as both commentary teams were shouting over the top of each other and Raw Sheriff Steve Austin put the icing on the cake by ordering a battalion of Raw troops into the battle atop of his ATV. Raw went off the air with a sea of red and blue throwing fists at each other. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7w5SsZgOgWk&feature=player_detailpage#t=172 It wouldn't be until a year and a half later that WWE would do an actual Raw vs. Smackdown match (at the 2005 Survivor Series) but off of the back of this huge brawl, perhaps that was a year and a half too long.
Betting on being a brilliant brother to Bodhi since 2008 (-1 Asian Handicap). Find me @LiamJJohnson on Twitter where you might find some wonderful pearls of wisdom in a stout cocktail of profanity, football discussion and general musings. Or you might not. Depends how red my eyes are.
