In the Autumn (Fall) of 1998, long beloved phenom The Undertaker turned heel for the first time in six years, becoming the Lord of Darkness. An extremely demonic character, Undertaker's '98-'99 persona saw him attempt crucifixions, live embalming, satanic rituals and this particularly diabolical endeavour: the black wedding, in which he abducted Stephanie McMahon in her first on-screen angle as a naïve, helpless babyface and attempted to wed her as she was strapped to his dark symbol. Several wrestlers, including Ken Shamrock and the Big Show ran in attempting to stop the wedding from happening, before Stone Cold Steve Austin, at the peak of his powers, succeeded. Destroying the entire Ministry of Darkness with Stunners and steel chair shots, he freed Stephanie from the symbol, receiving a huge hug of thanks from his arch-rival Vince McMahon's innocent baby girl. It went over huge in the arena and would've held up higher in history had Vince not later been revealed to be behind the whole ordeal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-c6wDFjQ8I The whole angle lasted barely 7 minutes but did more in 7 minutes than you'll see in 27 in modern-day WWE.
Betting on being a brilliant brother to Bodhi since 2008 (-1 Asian Handicap). Find me @LiamJJohnson on Twitter where you might find some wonderful pearls of wisdom in a stout cocktail of profanity, football discussion and general musings. Or you might not. Depends how red my eyes are.
