10 AEW Stars Who Are Perfect For Ring Of Honor
5. Scorpio Sky
And while we are discussing the Men of the Year, it just hasn't worked for Scorpio Sky in AEW, has it?
Tony Khan clearly rates him, and considering Sky’s ability, that’s understandable, but for some reason, he has just never connected with the fan base in a meaningful way. And unlike our previous entry on Ethan Page, this hasn’t been through lack of trying.
Sky was earmaked early on as a future star by Chris Jericho, but that mini-program did little but to keep Jericho warm for his eventual loss to Jon Moxley. He was one half of the first ever AEW Tag Team Champions, but the division has long since surpassed SCU. Sky’s grabbing of the very literal ‘brass ring’ at Revolution was met with apathy more than anything and his eventual TNT Championship reigns earlier this year have been ensconced in the worst period for a belt that has had a hell of a lineage.
Sky, a little like Tay Conti, has a certain stink on him with the AEW fan base that means he is unlikely to ever advance beyond where he is right now. A shift over to AEW, a ditching of the Men of the Year gimmick and a return to the phenomenal in-ring performer he is could give Ring of Honor a hot star from the get go.
And if ROH becomes a sort of feeder system to AEW as many believe it will, Sky could return down the line, ready made for a better run.
