Being a small guy in wrestling isn't as problematic as it used to be, as there are plenty of places that will still push you to the moon despite it. But WWE isn't one of them.
Darby Allin has found unprecedented success in AEW, as his cool gimmick and in-ring skills quickly caught the audience's attention. He was scoring wins in high profile matches in no time and even got a run with the TNT Title - which he's only recently lost. He's having a great time in the company and looks set for a bright future.
The truth is, there would be a ceiling for him in WWE, as his skinny frame and average height would hardly excite upper management, and his alt. look doesn't fit the company mould that WWE go with. Whereas in AEW, he's already gotten way further than he ever would with the McMahons.
Allin is a smart performer, as he works to his strengths and takes the right amount of risks, so you know he's clever enough to stay away from a company that wouldn't know how to handle him, especially when he's considered the golden boy of one that does.
