10 AEW Title Changes That MUST Happen In 2023

2. Women’s World Championship - Saraya

It’s way too early to speak about the dethroning of Jamie Hayter, of course. The Southampton star took the belt in a scorcher against Toni Storm (albeit a few months after she should have won), and has looked every bit the champion thus far in her promos, confidence, and brilliant defence against Shida.

There’s a Saraya-shaped elephant in the room, though. While it does feel a little CM Punk 2.0 to put the belt on an ex-WWE star who many feared would never wrestle again, it’s hard to imagine Paige sat eating muffins and slagging off all her coworkers.

Provided Saraya stays healthy, it just makes business sense to put her in the limelight. She’s already become more or less the focus of AEW’s women’s roster, and with the company planning a UK jaunt this year, an all-Brit (not Baker) main event could pay dividends.

Before that, though, here’s hoping Hayter gets the dominant champion run that will seal her position as a major star. She’s got the fans behind her and a run-in with her erstwhile dentist friend to look forward to - it should be good.
