The journey from the indies to AEW for Top Flight is an interesting one.
After establishing themselves on the independent circuit, Darius and Daunte Martin actually contacted Matt Jackson themselves, which led to the AEW EVP inviting the Martins to face he and brother Nick, a bout that earned Top Flight their home for the foreseeable future. Darius and Daunte had a terrific night against arguably the greatest tag team of the past decade. For two guys who are only 21 and 19-years-old, that says a lot.
While the Martin brothers had already appeared for AEW prior to this match airing, with a 1-1 record on Dark, having them be signed after only three matches in the company goes far in showing how committed they are to their craft. For The Young Bucks to even respond to their correspondence, and then sign them on top of that, shows there are bright futures ahead for the duo.
AEW's doubles division is one of the best in wrestling right now, with the Bucks, FTR, The Butcher and The Blade, Ortiz and Santana, The Lucha Bros, and a multitude of others. If Top Flight are able to stand out from this crop of talent, then there's nothing preventing the duo from becoming larger than life in AEW.
