10 Amazing Comparisons Between Becky Lynch And Stone Cold Steve Austin

1998: Despite injuries and countless potential political obstacles, Stone Cold Steve Austin makes it to the main event of the era-defining and industry-altering WrestleMania XIV riding a wave of popularity from the prior year. A Royal Rumble victory got him the title shot, but an electric shoving match with shamed boxing megastar 'Iron' Mike Tyson on the post-Rumble Raw got him mainstream appeal. His contest was with Shawn Michaels, but this was the Attitude Era's take on Hulk Hogan buddying up with Mr T for the first WrestleMania - it was all about creating the biggest star in a world beyond wrestling as well as maintaining the one within it.

WWE did everything in their power to get Austin there with the exact same level of support he'd garnered throughout 1997. Booking protected his limitations, promos went as far over the line as required, and nobody got so much as a right hand on 'The Rattlesnake' without absorbing a Stunner shortly afterwards. The promised land awaited.

2019: 'The Man' in the first ever women's WrestleMania main event against the biggest crossover combats sports star in the world? It sounds amazing, at least...
