10 Amazing Hidden Gems From WWE Superstars Of Wrestling

8. "The SummerSlam You Thought You'd Never See"

It's now quite common for WWE to adjust a main event out of the blue due to injury or booking changes (and, invariably the new outcome feels substantially more exciting), but the entire SummerSlam card going on an English summer holiday in 1992 makes for a fascinating hard right turn for the entire product.

Original contests such as Randy Savage Vs Ric Flair, Bret Hart Vs Shawn Michaels and The Legion Of Doom Vs The Beverly Brothers are all binned off mid-flow, leading to all sorts of televisual trickery to reframe all the big outings and revitalise the sudden new matches.

Interspersed with the shows are clips from various overseas junkets, and it's at this point the reason for the switch becomes clear - WWE are going to actually f*cking sell 80,000 tickets for a product completely in the toilet domestically. It's a remarkable bit of brand management from Vince McMahon, certainly his best decision of the year and one of his best ever.

Triple H may have discredited it recently in an effort to rebuff cries for a pay-per-view return, but actions (and incredible images from the show) speak louder-uh than-uh his-uh words-uh.
