10 Amazing WWE SummerSlam Plans You Won't Believe Almost Happened

6. Kevin Nash (w/NWO Member Shawn Michaels) To Face Triple H - SummerSlam 2002

In 2002 the WWE witnessed the resurgence of the NWO led by the unlikely leader Shawn Michaels. While Vince McMahon had believed that a WWE version of NWO could work without Hulk Hogan and Scott Hall, fate seemed to look unfavourably on the entire venture with Kevin Nash constantly picking up injuries over the summer. Yet on the road to SummerSlam 2002, plans were still in place for a match featuring NWO's Kevin Nash with fellow NWO member Shawn Michaels in his corner, against 'The Game' Triple H, who was refusing to join his friends in their new faction. This match would have been significant as the WWE had planned for Triple H to take up Michaels invitation to join him and 'The Kliq' in the NWO. Who knows what creative direction the WWE would have taken if the NWO had continued with the likes of Nash, Michaels and Triple H. Unfortunately Nash injured himself again prior to SummerSlam which proved to be the final nail in the coffin of the NWO's brief WWE existence. Nash and Triple H would end up feuding in 2003 culminating in a Hell In A Cell Match at Bad Blood, but if they had wrestled each other at SummerSlam in 2002 the whole dynamic of the WWE might have changed. On another night Shawn Michaels may not have had such a classic match with his buddy HHH and his glorious second run in the WWE may never have happened.
