10 Amazing Wrestler Team-Ups That Ended Way Too Early

2. Triple H And Steve Austin

That tried and true formula of having rivals feud and then subsequently team-up (which inevitably leads to another feud down the road) can become stale. Yet, when Triple-H and Steve Austin teamed up in the spring of 2001 to form their €œTwo-Man Power Trip€ the resulting angle had some real legs. Triple H had hit his badass, water-spitting prime and Austin was doing a second run as a heel fresh off being the most popular wrestler in company history. Bottom line, these two brought it and fans truly believed them to be unstoppable force worthy to feud against the best in the company. The team didn€™t fade as quickly as others on this list and their pinnacle was pretty spectacular as together they captured every primary WWE title in the federation at Backlash. Yet, less than a month later, they ran into the rising star team of Chris€™ Jericho and Benoit who challenged them for the tag team titles on Raw. One phenomenal match and a torn quad later, Triple H was out for a lengthy recovery and Austin was left to become the Alliance singing cowboy heel that was much less effective. That was truly a shame as a year or two of the €œTwo-Man Power Trip€ clashing against the best faces of the dying Attitude era would have been killer.
