10 Amazing Wrestler Team-Ups That Ended Way Too Early

5. Great Muta And Vampiro

In the late 80€™s and early 90€™s, the Great Muta was a special attraction in the NWA/WCW whose sporadic appearances stateside always left wrestling fans wanting more. His various encounters with Sting, Arn Anderson, Barry Windham and Lex Luger were highlighted with great matches, high flying moves and a unique flair that stood out amongst the crowd (and don€™t t say your eyes didn€™t explode when you witnessed Muta spit green mist into the eyes of an opponent for the first time). When he re-appeared in the Vince Russo-led late 90€™s, he was paired with an interesting newcomer to WCW in the morbid, Vampiro. Their €œDark Carnival€ alliance (along with the Insane Clown Posse€don€™t ask) netted them a one night WCW tag team championship but Muta was used as little more than an accessory to the larger Vampiro-Sting feud. After a three-way match with Sting at Fall Brawl, Vampiro turned on Muta and Sting rescued his old rival from further punishment. Muta soon ended his brief WCW stint which would end up being his last as the company folded in 2001. Yet, that final run served as a major disappointment compared to Muta€™s previous stints in the company. This was especially frustrating as the Vampiro alliance seemed like a perfect pairing of two unique personalities who could have salvaged some of that hideous Nitro programming had they been allowed to stay together. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9t9NlRuglI
