10 Amazing Wrestler Team-Ups That Ended Way Too Early

6. Psycho Sid And Shawn Michaels

There has been a lot of fair and unfair criticism surrounding Psycho Sid throughout his wrestling career but few could argue that the man worked well simply as an intimidating presence. A monster who towered almost seven feet tall, was built like an absolute tank and topped it off with a fiercely intimidating curly-haired mullet (somehow that worked) was legitimately an imposing figure. It was then no surprise then that some of his best worked angles involved him being the heavy protecting other wrestlers throughout his various company stints. He filled this role in several WCW runs with the Four Horsemen and backing Randy Savage. Yet, it was his WWE run as the bodyguard to Shawn Michaels where his stoic demeanor seemed like a perfect fit to the Boy Toy€™s charisma. In 1995, Shawn Michaels had begun the long simmering feud with his former bodyguard, Diesel. Diesel had broken away from Michaels in the previous storyline and went solo to great success by capturing the WWE Championship. Michaels was now attempting to win that very championship for the first time against his old friend and they were headed for the climatic match at Wrestlemania 11. On the road to Wrestlemania, WWE had brought back Sid to fill Diesel€™s old role as Michael€™s bodyguard and add another element to the feud. Sid joining Michaels was only a short-term storyline as Michaels was poised to begin his tremendous babyface turn the night after Wrestlemania. Yet, the pair meshed well on-screen together and it was a shame that that the timing wasn€™t right for them to remain a heel duo. Timing was likely an issue in the story since the €œbodyguard angle€ had been played out by that point but both men looked perfect in those roles together.
