"Maybe this humiliating experience was worthwhile after all".

Daniel Bryan was surely hoping his 'Mania XXVIII woes would be rewarded long term. Of course, they were. Two years later, Bryan won the WWE Title at 'Mania XXX, and he's been a made man at a high level ever since. As Bryan Danielson, the man has continued his dedication to having incredible matches over in AEW.

Sheamus vs. Bryan back in 2012 was not an incredible bout. Far from it. WWE had the former boot the latter in the chops for a pin within 18 short seconds, and D-Bry's embarrassment was complete. One of the finest workers on the planet was reduced to a walking punchline as Jerry Lawler remarked how "great" the moment was on commentary.

It was defo memorable, albeit not for the right reasons. Folks purchasing WrestleMania wanted to see someone of Bryan's calibre work a full match. Instead, he got way less time than Maria Menounos, and did a lot less wrestling. At least he didn't look like he'd had a different kind of accident!

Small mercies.
