Why You Shouldn't Watch: Onto something better, albeit no less brutal to revisit.

You just wouldn't get a match like this in WWE today. Chair shots to the head are thankfully banned, and that's a good thing considering the damage they do. Back at the 1999 Royal Rumble, poor Mick Foley took a quite disgusting number of them, and the dude couldn't even put his hands up to protect himself.

The sight of a handcuffed Mankind being belted by The Rock is harrowing. It's even more distressing when one realises that Mick's wife and young children were at ringside in tears over what was happening. Those weren't worked tears - everyone was deathly afraid for dad.

Rocky and Foley always had stunning chemistry, but no-one needs to relive the horrors of those unprotected thumps that left Mick visibly out of it on the canvas. It's unbelievable that Foley can even string a sentence together these days after that abuse.
