Why You Shouldn't Watch: This writer will happily go to bat for Steve Austin and Owen Hart pre-tombstone. Their SummerSlam '97 battle had tremendous heat, and it was moving along rather nicely before Owen stupidly decided to do what Austin had specifically asked him not to do.

Seeing Steve's head exposed beneath Hart's legs before Owen crushed his peer's neck is chilling today. It was an uncharacteristically sloppy and thick move from one of wrestling's best workers to ignore the warning signs, and it changed Austin's ring style forever. The fact he returned at all is a blessing.

Folks weren't sure he'd be able to after suffering a broken neck and temporary paralysis.

Austin vs. Owen for the Intercontinental Title had extra stakes going in (the "Kiss My Ass" thing was a riot for the time), and they were making magic before the piledriver changed everything. Trust this next sentence: You don't need to see Austin flailing around live on pay-per-view.
