10 Angriest Wrestling Crowds Ever
8. HBK In Montreal
Wrestling fans are always likely to get a little bit touchy when Shawn Michaels comes within a hundred-mile radius of Montreal, the site of Survivor Series 1997, where the Heartbreak Kid helped Vince McMahon screw Bret Hart out of the WWE Title.
But it was during his appearance in August 2005 that things hit fever pitch. HBK, in the midst of a heel run opposite Hulk Hogan, got his friends in the production truck to play the Hitman's music, momentarily tricking the crowd into believing that their hometown hero was about to return to the WWE ring for the first time in almost eight years.
Suffice it to say, he didn't. Nobody walked out, in fact, leaving a guffawing Shawn Michaels standing alone in the ring to soak up all of the hatred; the first and only time he had ever really been jeered since his triumphant return from injury three years earlier.
Fortunately for us, Vince McMahon seems to be a strong believer in karma. Michaels got some respect kicked into him by Hogan a few weeks later at SummerSlam, which meant that it was the side of good left celebrating in the end (well, Hogan, anyway).
