The 2001 purchase of WCW by WWE sent shockwaves through the industry, leaving a void that's still felt today. WCW's website, on the other hand? We doubt anyone missed that thing.

Although already past its prime by November 1998, WCW's website, as first captured by Wayback Machine, showcases the company struggling to regain the initiative in the Monday Night Wars.

Of course, fans can catch up on any missed Nitro or Thunder results, but one of the WCW website's most amusing features is its video rental locator. According to the tool's description, entering an American ZIP Code brought up "a store near you that carries WCW 1998 releases available for rental on home video!!" What weird, wild stuff. The future is now, our friends, and by now we mean 1998.

There are also separate pages for WCW superstars like Diamond Dallas Page and Bret Hart. That's right, a WCW page for The Hitman, complete with fan club and Q&A. Hey, at least they booked his website properly!

In a strange twist, nWo Hollywood and Wolfpac shared a website, despite being bitter rivals. Breaking kayfabe to save money on domain fees? That's just too sweet!

And lastly, before Zelina Vega's OnlyFans, there was the Nitro Girls' Bikini Breakout '98 Premium Area and downloadable screensaver. What can we say? The more things change, the more they stay the same!
