10 Attitude Era Feuds Bret Hart Missed Out On

4. The Rock

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gdwwnat5Mw The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment has only ever had one televised match with Bret Hart, and that was under his old guise of Rocky Maivia, for the Intercontinental Championship in 1997. It was all designed to further the feud between Hart and Stone Cold Steve Austin, which was red hot around the earlier parts of that year. Austin would of course eventually end up headlining multiple WrestleManias with The Rock, while Hart left for WCW later that year. It was this move, alongside Shawn Michaels' injuries, that opened up the main event for guys like The Rock to come through and steal the show. If Bret Hart had stuck around in the WWE, some would think that The Rock's elevation to superstardom might've taken longer. However, given the Great One's reign as the head of The Nation of Domination in 1998, a spectacular feud could've erupted between them and the whole Hart Foundation, especially with Owen Hart joining the Nation as he did. Maybe throw D-Generation X and The Ministry of Darkness into the mix, and there's huge potential for an epic four-team Survivor Series battle there too. Behind the scenes, Hart was always supportive of The Rock, going so far as to tell others in the locker room that he saw a superstar in the making. It's a credible theory to say that Hart was an influence on The Rock, even if their in-ring styles differ like they do. What sticks between the two men is their superstar quality, a factor that would make any main event between them a must-see match.
