This speaks in almost the same vein as the Matt Cardona entry, but bears a far more significant missed opportunity. Having a live audience for this debut could have genuinely turned it into one of AEW's greatest moments, and sadly the state of the world deleted such an opportunity.
The segment that saw Matt Hardy's debut in AEW was an episode full of excitement, as the reveal of the Dark Order leader - which we will return to - had already excited audiences sat at home. Still, then the main event saw the legendary Hardy boy and creative wrestling mastermind make a shock appearance with the company.
The amount of creative freedom that All Elite gives its wrestlers made it feel like the perfect place for Hardy to go, and as such, this moment spelt out an incredibly exciting future for him and the company.
The pop this sequence would have received is immeasurable and could have been a moment that fans returned to again and again to enjoy. Sadly that would not be the reality.
