10 Awesome Ideas That Were Cut From AEW

7. An Awesome Match That Made So Much Sense

It's more difficult to feel despondent over this, because the alternative wasn't bad. The alternative was one of the better stories of the year; when Wheeler YUTA abandoned the Best Friends, he earned the respect of and subsequently joined the Blackpool Combat Club in a series of phenomenal matches that were structured, ingeniously, to show more of YUTA's fire each time out.

The originally planned storyline, which was foreshadowed in several backstage segments, was for Trent to wonder - alongside the audience - why YUTA had suddenly joined the stable. Trent's suspicion was going to mutate into a conflict in which YUTA would earn his respect after a match and join Best Friends on a more formal and less sudden and random basis.

This idea was essentially transplanted into the BBC storyline, and all went well enough for Trent in the end, who was a key part of the rave-received Forbidden Door show.

Still, a blend of both ideas really should have happened. It's a touch strange that Trent was never out for YUTA's blood following his defection. To use the favourite word of the modern pro wrestler, Trent looked like a bit of a bitch for a few weeks there.

Match would have banged an' all.
