10 Awesome Indie Matches You MUST Watch On WWE Network
8. Drew McIntyre VS Ricochet (EVOLVE 37, 2015)
This match heralds one of the many examples of what Ricochet could STILL be in the main roster of WWE. His athleticism goes without saying, but he is also a great personality, and it's awesome to see how well he works as a heel in this EVOLVE contest from five years back.
It makes for a cool contrast with the relentless bruiser style of McIntyre. Drew is faithful to his own technique, whilst also bringing out the best in Ricochet. The result is a fluid match where the competitors make good use of their surroundings, including the unique utilisation of a basketball hoop.
It's not the only time these guys fought, but it's also not a match-up we're likely to see any time on WWE in the near future, so it's good to see a specimen of how well it worked in the past. Indie promotions like this tend to have a talent for not overcomplicating things. If there are two personalities who work well together, then they are paired as such, and allowed to get to work. As a result, the fans get what they want. Simple.
