10 Awesome Matches WWE Must Book By The End Of 2017

3. Johnny Gargano Vs. Tommaso Ciampa

Tommaso Ciampa broke the heart of many an NXT fan at TakeOver: Chicago last month. In the aftermath of DIY’s latest Tag Title loss to the Authors Of Pain, Ciampa finally snapped on Johnny Gargano, brutally destroying him as the show went off the air. Both men have since been written out through injury, but Ciampa has promised to become “the most dangerous man in wresting” upon returning, and it looks like the duo are set to feud for the rest of the year.

This will likely become NXT’s biggest storyline of 2017. DIY were a tremendously popular tag team, and in tearing the group apart, Ciampa has become the brand’s biggest villain. It’s a perfect story, and given Gargano’s development into one of WWE'#s most sympathetic babyfaces (and best sellers) over the past couple of years, he’ll be a perfect foil for Ciampa’s uncontrollable aggression.

The duo had a fantastic match in last year’s Cruiserweight Classic, but they’ll tear the house down if given a prominent TakeOver spot. Assuming Ciampa heals by the year’s end (Gargano’s injury is storyline only), there’s no reason not to book this epic clash, and frankly, it deserves a main event spot.
