10 Awesome Things You Don't Remember About WWE's Attitude Era

9. Insurrextion And Rebellion

WWE has always been hugely popular in the United Kingdom. 1992's SummerSlam was held at Wembley Stadium and was one of the hottest crowds of the "New Generation" era, so while they did return to the UK regularly, it seems odd it took them so long to get around to holding regularly Pay-Per-Views in the UK. The first UK PPV of The Attitude Era was October 1999's Rebellion, broadcast live from Birmingham, England, which featured the main event of Triple H v The Rock for the WWF Championship. Rebellion and early summer's Insurrextion would become traditions fondly-remembered by many Brits who grew up during this formative time. One of the drawbacks of these PPVs was that being UK-exclusive, they often felt inconsequential. Over the course of eight shows, only three championships changed hands. Twice, it was the Hardcore Championship which could change at any time/any where. Most notably was when Crash Holly defeated European villain William Regal for the European Championship in a shock upset. WWF still does incredibly well when it comes to the UK, and with their upcoming debut of the WWE Network, perhaps it's time to consider another overseas Pay-Per-View.
