10 Awesome Things Happening In WWE Right Now

1. We'll Always Have The Network

I couldn't think of ten.

Monday's RAW was the best in age, bookended by two good-to-excellent lengthy matches, though it was hard to get past the short-termism of it all. All reputable reports indicate that WWE is saving Roman Reigns for Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 34. While that makes sense - they are the 2 in 23 and 2 - what doesn't is the fact that Reigns has already burned through every viable opponent with only the nine months remaining. Braun Strowman, Finn Bálor, Bray Wyatt, Seth Rollins: at this rate, Reigns is set for an autumn series with Curt Hawkins.

A lot of this has to do with the Network era. WWE doesn't need to preserve the appeal of big matches because it's no longer asking fans to fork out an extortionate sum for them.

Ironically, the very service that is damaging the company long term is probably the best thing about it. The thrill of being able to access the Ric Flair Vs. Ricky Steamboat series of 1989 within seconds - or bioDVDs that would have once set you back twenty quid each, or watching Jim Cornette smoke the peace pipe with Eric Bischoff - still hasn't worn off.
