9. Bobby Roode's Reign Of Glory

Bobby Roode is crafting a fantastic reign with the NXT Championship. Unlike so much of the WWE product - in which characters advance and stagnate with no logical, storyline basis - it is rich with continuity.

Roode captured the title at TakeOver: San Antonio from Shinsuke Nakamura after mercilessly targeting his knee. He retained it over WrestleMania Weekend by doubling down on the damage. Then, at TakeOver: Chicago, it was thought the odds had been evened out when Nakamura's compatriot, Hideo Itami, kicked tar out of Roode's shoulder. Roode had to risk aggravating the injury just to put Itami away.

The second one of his opponents captures the title by injuring him is going to be both a wonderful, micro moment of catharsis and a perfect platform on which to book a future rematch. It's probably an exaggeration to compare Roode's work to the seminal King's Road of All Japan Pro Wrestling, a continuing story that spanned multiple wrestlers and multiple years.

To Roode's immense credit, it definitely isn't sacrilege. His reign has told a fantastic and immersive tale throughout the half-year.
