The New World Order was still in its infancy when the rogue group played WarGames at Fall Brawl '96. They'd already shaken WCW to its core, however, and this prompted the promotion to make one key change ahead of the match.

While WG participants would usually crowd ringside until the time came for them to enter the match, both sides were forced to remain backstage until their number was up. The contest saw Hollywood Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and the dreadful nWo Sting face Ric Flair, Lex Luger, Arn Anderson, and the real Sting - four men who weren't just considered among the best WCW had to offer, but represented the promotion's beating heart.

The babyfaces were undermined almost immediately. Their constant questioning of Sting's allegiances enraged 'The Icon,' and although he laid waste to the nWo after entering the cage, he walked out before the match was over. This left Team WCW in a perilous four-on-three situation, and the nWo inevitably triumphed, striking a major blow in their takeover of the promotion.

The action is solid, but this one's all about the story. It kicked off the 'Crow Sting' storyline that eventually lead to WCW's 'Match Of The Century' between him and Hogan at Starrcade '97, which turned out to be a massive disappointment, but the build produced some tremendous television.
