Born in 2005, Lethal Lockdown was TNA's take on the WarGames format. It featured an identical entry system, but there was only a single six-sided wing within the cage, and weapons were dotted around the environment to encourage violence. This hasn't always resulted in great bouts (much like WarGames itself), but the 2007 stands among the best gimmick matches that the company has ever produced.

Taking place at the Lockdown pay-per-view, it pitted a Christian Cage, Scott Steiner, Tomko, Abyss, and AJ Styles against Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe, Sting, Jeff Jarrett, and Rhino. There was a TNA Heavyweight Title shot on the line for the fall-winner, and while it took the crowd a good while to get warmed up for the match, the action was hard and heavy throughout.

The cage couldn't contain them. Rhino gored Tomko through the wall late on, and chaos soon followed, with half the participants falling to the outside. Styles and Angle eventually ended on top of the cage, with Kurt coming perilously close to falling off the edge, before recklessly throwing AJ down onto the awaiting Steiner, Tomko, and Joe.

Abyss filled Jarrett's guitar with thumbtacks, but this proved to be his demise, with JJ pulling the swerve on his partner, cracking him with the weapon, and allowing Sting to pick up the 1, 2, 3.
