10 Awesome Ways Wrestlers Got Back At Critics
2. The Young Bucks' 2018
Armed with hordes of fans that already loved them for their fabulous patter and enjoyable audacious outings, The Young Bucks cast aside dated criticism of their matches in 2018 simply by knocking out a series of psychology-laden thrillers for both New Japan Pro Wrestling and various independent organisations.
Matt Jackson's back became a luminous target for opponents to work off of, so convincing was his selling, adding gravitas to exceptional efforts against Roppongi 3K, The Golden Lovers and SANADA & EVIL. The latter was particularly notable - the brothers graduated to NJPW's heavyweight tag division to set up something of a doubles dream match at Dominion 2018, but subverted expectations by drawing focus instead to a Nick foot injury rather than relying on Matt's bruised back.
The Bucks now offered the best of both worlds. Constructing classics when required, they still kept all the old tricks in their lockers when they were tasked with using limited time to ensure every jaw hit the floor. Never had such a case been as crucial as the main event of their own pay-per-view.
