10 Awesome Wrestlers Who Left WWE FAR Too Soon
9. Austin Aries
Aries is undoubtedly a divisive figure in the wrestling world, as many people herald him as a sublime performer while others think of him as an overrated and arrogant personality (understandable, given his social media activity). Whatever your opinions are, there is no denying that he certainly makes an impact wherever he goes. So with that being said, why was Aries' time with WWE so lacklustre?
The former TNA World Heavyweight Champion spent one year and seven months with the company. He had a somewhat strong NXT run and would eventually end up working within the cruiserweight division on Raw and 205 Live, but even in that smaller WWE branch, he never found much success and failed in his Cruiserweight Championship pursuits.
Although many people believed that Aries left the company due to frustrations with his position on the card, he was in fact released from his contract. In an interview with Chris Van Vliet Aries stated that the WWE writing staff "didn't have anything for him" and this is what led to his departure.
Despite his lack of impact within the company, it's still such a waste of potential to have seen the established wrestler only operate with them for the better half of two years.
