8. EC3
EC3 has a unique place on this list, as he has left WWE before reaching his full potential on two separate occasions: once as Derrick Bateman and the second as EC3. Both of these departures were disappointing, but his second truly stands out, as the former FCW native had reinvented himself after his initial WWE release and looked set to show WWE how much better he had become.
After leaving the Derrick Bateman character behind, he adopted the moniker of EC3 and became a massive TNA presence under Dixie Carter. He was a bright spot in the company despite the rough patches it was going through, and fans were thrilled to learn that he would be returning to the land of WWE, after parting ways with Impact.
In his second run with the company, EC3 started showing the NXT crowd what his new persona was capable of, and although he didn't capture any championship gold, he proved why he should be taken seriously. Sadly, once making it to the main roster, he was lost in the shuffle and became a regular contender for the 24/7 title until his release after cost-cutting last year.
EC3 only lasted two years in his second WWE run, and that is woefully disappointing.
