10 Awesome Wrestlers WWE Totally Slept On
7. Muhammad Hassan
Surely no wrestler in WWE history has had their momentum derailed more unjustly than Muhammad Hassan.
Hassan debuted in 2004 as an Arab-American superstar frustrated with the racism and stereotypes of a post-9/11 world, and predictably, the crowds typically glossed over his nuanced arguments in favour of proudly racist booing.
Combined with his killer mic skills, great look and annoying entrance theme, his timely gimmick made him prime top-line heel material.
Hassan built up a massive head of steam within mere months of his debut, entering into a feud with The Undertaker in 2005, leading to the infamous moment where Hassan's ski mask-wearing accomplices beat 'Taker down... a whole three days before the 7/7 London bombings took place.
Amid increasing pressure from network UPN and the mass media, Hassan was quickly withdrawn from TV and destroyed by The Undertaker at The Great American Bash a few weeks later, effectively ending his character.
Hassan was sent back to developmental to be "repackaged," much to the anger of fans, and he was released a few months later, after which he announced his retirement from in-ring action at the mere age of 23.
It's since been revealed that not only was Hassan originally booked to defeat The Undertaker, but he was also in line to beat Batista for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam the very next month.
Hassan, real name Marc Copani, then went back to college and now works as a high school principal, though made a short-lived return on the indie circuit in 2018.
Hassan had all the gifts to be a major star, and that he was robbed of this still irks many fans almost 15 years later. WWE didn't do right by him at all, despite the obvious trickiness of the situation.
