Wrestling will always be an industry over-flowing with potential.

Potential to create absolute magic in-between the ropes.

Potential to break your heart in a matter of seconds.

Potential to catapult a somewhat popular figure into full-blown superstardom.

In the case of the following entries, however, all the potential in the world still couldn't translate into fully realised brilliance inside of a squared-circle, instantly iconic visuals, or vital feathers being added to the caps of all-time greats.

You may have understandably assumed that certain megastars had hit rather inevitable milestones during their legendary rise up the card. You might even swear blind that you definitely saw some of the following awesome occurrences go down on your screens with your own eyes at one point or another.

But the record still shows (for now, at least) that each and every one of these moments, matches, and achievements that definitely SHOULD have happened inside of various rings around the world most certainly did not.

Mouth-watering dream matches, much-deserved WrestleMania moments, and magnificent triumphs that unquestionably needed to become a thing, these are those wrestling happenings that felt like they surely went down in our reality... but somehow never saw the light of day.

10. Two Of The Most Popular Babyfaces In WWE History Go One-On-One

WWE has a history of taking two of their most popular babyfaces and finding a way to throw them into one hell of a blockbuster at some point down the road.

Despite both spending many years together on the WWE roster over the course of their seemingly never-ending careers, though, it turns out that babyface megastars Jeff Hardy and Rey Mysterio have never once met in singles action inside of a sports entertainment ring.

Sure, you likely possess memories of the two battling out in-between the ropes in various tag matches and multi-person bouts over the years. Yet, the only time 'Rey-Rey' and 'The Charismatic Enigma' collided in a one-on-one match during their storied careers was at a Lucha Ilimitado event back in 2016.

If any other two babyface icons closing in on 50 were being discussed here, you'd be forgiven for thinking the ship had now sailed on a high-profile singles bout between the two. But this is the ageless Jeff Hardy and Rey Mysterio. So, it honestly wouldn't be all that surprising if a long-awaited dream hero showdown ended up appearing on the WrestleMania 45 card.
