Sure, it gave us the awful JBL is Poopy nonsense, but for a brief while in 2008 an alliance was formed between John Cena and Cryme Tyme, collectively known as Cryme Tyme Cenation (CTC). The alliance came not long after Shad Gaspard and JTG had returned to the WWE, and being positioned on-screen with the number one name in the company at the time gave the tag team a legitimacy they had previously lacked.

The alliance also began repairing some of the damage done to Cena’s reputation with the hardcore fans, as the now PG-friendly face of the company began to show some of the chops that had initially made him the Doctor of Thuganomics. It seemed like a win-win situation; Cryme Tyme look credible, Cena looks cool.

Unfortunately for Cena, a herniated disc in his neck put him out for several months, thus ending the alliance. Cryme Tyme’s WWE career would come to nought, and Cena would return as good ol’ JC at Survivor Series that year.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
