9. Kane And Rob Van Dam

There is little question WWE failed to tapitalise on the immense popularity of Rob Van Dam in 2002 by not putting the World Heavyweight Championship on him. Throwing him into the tag team ranks instead might sound like it was a step down for him, but it actually ended up being the best thing for the former Intercontinental champion at the time.

Meanwhile, it was the perfect use of Kane, who had been floundering for the better part of 2002 and desperately needed direction. RVD helped bring out the entertaining side of The Big Red Monster while also having a string of solid matches as well. They quickly captured the World Tag Team Championship in March 2003 and went on to reign as champs through the next three months.

RVD and Kane were an obvious oddball pairing, but it somehow worked for them. They were a fun addition to the tag team scene on Raw and the only regret fans had was that they went their separate ways too soon after they dropped the straps. Their subsequent feud saw Kane finally unmask, and given that it was an underwhelming payoff to a six-year storyline, they probably should have stuck together for a while longer.
