When Edge returned to win the Royal Rumble in 2010, it seemed almost a foregone conclusion that he'd go on to WrestleMania to capture the world title. The 'Rated-R Superstar', having just returned from a lengthy injury lay-off, was a fan favourite for the first time in years, and it made perfect sense for him to cap his fairy-tale comeback with a fairy-tale ending: by beating smug and smarmy Chris Jericho for the World Heavyweight Championship.

But, not for the first time, WWE swerved us. Jericho - who had laid down at WrestleMania so many times before - retained his title after a Codebreaker. Although it was ultimately Edge, having speared Y2J through the barricade after the bell, who had the last laugh on the night, he didn't walk out of Arizona with the belt.
