To say that Daniel Bryan has had a tumultuous WWE career would be an understatement. From getting fired then re-hired with the Nexus, to getting himself over as a 'B player', to winning the main event at 'Mania XXX, he has experienced immense ups and downs.

A few months after his 'Mania XXX victory, Bryan required neck surgery and was off TV. He appeared in the 2015 Royal Rumble and was quickly eliminated, throwing the assembled crowd into a rage for the rest of the match. Bryan won the Intercontinental title at that year's WrestleMania, only to drop THAT title for medical reasons within a few months.

In February 2016, Bryan delivered a heartfelt and heartbreaking speech telling the world he was retiring because of multiple (up to ten) concussions.

In a shock turn, though, roughly two years later Bryan returned, cleared to wrestle, and worked up to a fantastic heel turn for the rest of 2018 as the 'new' Daniel Bryan. He did some of the best work of his career in this time, berating fans for being non-environmentally friendly and creating a new 'organic' belt.

Daniel Bryan wrestling again was great; Daniel Bryan wrestling as a scenery-chewing heel was even better (fake Erick Rowan foolishness aside.)
