10 Awful Wrestlers Pushed As WWE Main Eventers

4. Papa Shango

Papa Shango was Charles Wright - the man who would also portray the Godfather and Kama Mustafa - and he wasn't very good. His gimmick was that of a voodoo practitioner, which had potential to be great, but it was handled pretty poorly and wasted on a guy who simply wasn't great in the ring. That said, he was presented as a threat to some of the best and biggest wrestlers in what was then the WWF. Having debuted in January 1992, Shango feuded with none other than Hulk Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior - and it doesn't get much better than that. His feud with Ultimate Warrior, however, was one of the most ridiculous and outright embarrassing in wrestling history, as Shango kept cursing Ultimate Warrior, making him vomit and causing strange substances to leak from his body. He was released from the company in the summer of 1993 and, although he has made sporadic appearances as the character since, neither Charles Wright or his Papa Shango character were very good.
