10 Awkward WWE WrestleMania Moments That Still Make Us Cringe
5. WrestleMania X: IRS And The Bill Clinton Impersonator
In the build-up to WrestleMania X, WWE claimed that Bill Clinton would be on hand for the big event. Instead, the promotion attempted to try and merge comedy with some sort of political statement, with a Clinton impersonator.
Though the presidential imposter was featured throughout the show, the whole thing felt incredibly out of place. It was unclear how fans were supposed to feel about this ill-advised character.
Finally, the pay off came when IRS voiced his approval for the job the president was doing and how he was pleased with Clinton's decision to raise taxes. IRS did manage to get a response from the crowd, but it was hardly worth the build-up. It came across a low-rent promo one would expect to see on a small-town indie show as opposed to the biggest pro wrestling event of the year.
The angle was bad at the time and hasn't aged well either. The Clinton impersonator bit is a classic example of WWE trying to step out of their lane and creating a cringe-worthy WrestleMania moment.
